Archaeology Day

A day of archaeological activities including an opportunity to view the Haddiscoe Hoard, over 300 rediscovered Civil War coins and specimens from the Costume and Textile Collection. Join local metal detectorists, enjoy their finds and try your hand and detecting 'treasure' of your own. Meet the community archaeologist and explore the Norfolk Heritage Explorer Records to find out what's happening in your neighbourhood. Learn about Flintspiration and the Historic Churches Trust and see flint knapping demonstrations by Jason Gibbons. Also, local Young Archaeologists will be helping with hands-on craft activities and showing off their own 'finds'. There will be a talk at 11.30am by Dr Adrian Marsden entitled 'Seventeenth Century Small Change, or How Many Herrings for a Ha'penny', and at 2pm Dr Victor Morgan will talk about the colours, smells sounds and processions associated with Norwich Parish Churches.
