Great Yarmouth’s 17th Century Tokens and their Issuers

From the death of Charles I in 1649, England and Wales found themselves in the grip of a currency crisis. To remedy this shortage of money, the traders and civic bodies of the country had their own token coinage made. This talk looks at Great Yarmouth’s 17th century tokens and at the stories of the people who issued them. A talk by Dr. Adrian Marsden,Numismatist Norfolk Historic Environment Service As part of the 2018-19 Winter Talks Programme at Time and Tide Museum.
