Family Friendly Autism Activity Day

A family friendly day at Norwich Castle particularly suitable for visitors with autism, their friends and families. The day will feature exciting images taken by pupils from local complex needs schools during their recent Takeover Day at Norwich Castle. Visitors are also invited to snap their own selfie during the last few days of the Fishermen and Kings exhibition and there will be a free tour of our Castle Keep at 12.00 noon. There will be a quiet space in Picnic Room to lunch or relax and of course all of the Castle’s permanent collection is available to enjoy. Family Friendly Autism Activity Day

A family friendly day at Norwich Castle particularly suitable for visitors with autism, their friends and families. The day will feature exciting images taken by pupils from local complex needs schools during their recent Takeover Day at Norwich Castle. Visitors are also invited to snap their own selfie during the last few days of the Fishermen and Kings exhibition, or maybe visit the Glitter Fairy for a sparkly sea-faring ‘tattoo’. There will be free tours of the Castle Keep at 11.00am, 1.30& 2.30pm. Other activities include lollipop picture frame making and a crazy face portrait collage challenge. Lunch space is available in the Picnic Room and there will be a quiet space in the Cotman Art Gallery. Archaeology Day

A day of archaeological activities including an opportunity to view the Haddiscoe Hoard, over 300 rediscovered Civil War coins and specimens from the Costume and Textile Collection. Join local metal detectorists, enjoy their finds and try your hand and detecting 'treasure' of your own. Meet the community archaeologist and explore the Norfolk Heritage Explorer Records to find out what's happening in your neighbourhood. Learn about Flintspiration and the Historic Churches Trust and see flint knapping demonstrations by Jason Gibbons. Also, local Young Archaeologists will be helping with hands-on craft activities and showing off their own 'finds'. There will be a talk at 11.30am by Dr Adrian Marsden entitled 'Seventeenth Century Small Change, or How Many Herrings for a Ha'penny', and at 2pm Dr Victor Morgan will talk about the colours, smells sounds and processions associated with Norwich Parish Churches.
