A Beginner's Guide to Fossils

Suitable for beginners, this one-day workshop will use the collections of the Norfolk Museums Service. We will take a romp through the variety of fossils from Norfolk and beyond, from microscopic pollen to elephants. Find out how to collect, curate and identify fossils, how they came to be preserved and what they tell us about our geological past. Have a go at finding and identifying real fossils from the Cromer Forest Bed using a microscope. Please pay when booking, either in person or by post (cheques payable to Norfolk County Council).

There are many deserted villages in Norfolk which became depopulated for a number of reasons, even in the 20th century. This popular workshop led by Ian Groves, will examine some of these settlements, the causes behind their desertion, what to look for where a settlement once was and which ones can be visited today.
